What to Wear Year Round in Atlanta

Atlanta is a fashionable city where people like use color, patterns, various fabrics and modes to suit their style. You will see everything from conservative suits to casual khaki pants or shorts. Popular fabrics are linen and cottons to stay cool during the summer. And wool and thick overcoats to stay warm in the winter. Women love to accessorize with modern jewelry and fashionable pumps. During the last of winter and beginning of spring temperatures get a bit chilly during the evening so a lightweight jacket or sweater will keep you comfy and warm. When it gets humid light clothing is best in organic materials. If you like walking or jogging be sure to invest in a good pair of sneakers and enjoy the new Atlanta Beltline, a citified refurbishing project that altered 22-miles of unused railroad lines into sprawling parks and great walking and jogging trails. Keep in mind, some nightclubs do not permit shorts, sneakers, or t-shirts. Any of the clothing basics are appropriate in the city like shorts, cargo pants, tank tops, flip-flops, and athletic shoes. However, if you go into the Buckhead area, you might want to dress up a bit more.

Jeans are a staple so always have a few pairs on hand. Long sleeved t-shirts, hoodies/sweatshirts, or a light jacket are important during the summer season as the air conditioning can be quite cold inside stores, restaurants, and other establishments.

TIP

Though Atlanta is known as a great metropolis, it's just under 100 miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you like hiking this is the place to get started. Be sure to have the correct hiking gear along with the right walking shoes that offer support.
